Birkdale Intermediate School
A quality education in a caring environment
Kia ora e te whanau,
Thank you for your support of level 3 restrictions and for keeping your children at home. This is the best place for them to be and now is the time for us to be vigilant in our social distancing and hygiene practices.
SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED FOR ALL THIS WEEK.
We will review this decision and send out an update before Monday.
Providing a quality education in a caring environment is still our key message even in uncertain times. For the next few days we will not be sending home learning nor have an expectation that you will be providing home learning to your children.
This is a time to show care and to enjoy time with your family and those within your bubble.
Our learning focus is on raising student achievement in literacy and numeracy. If you chose to do home learning then we would like to suggest the following activities...
Visit this website and try some of the maths week activities - https://www.mathsweek.co.nz/
Logon to Mathletics and have some maths fun
Read, read, read
Write a letter to a friend
Go on to our school website and onto the literacy page and work on some of the activities there
Do some rote learning of times tables
If your child missed cooking this week, then find a recipe for pancakes, follow the directions and make a delicious breakfast.
Research a NZ disaster and write a paragraph explaining what happened, when it happened, where it happened, who was affected and lessons learned from this event.
We are hoping that this is a temporary closure. Wellbeing of our community is always at the forefront of our planning. How you spend the next few days at home should encourage good wellbeing for all and we do not want home learning to become an added pressure.
Please take care of yourselves and of each other.
